What the Sessions Cover
Foundational Years
Scientific vocabulary, basic cell biology and foundational concepts introduced in earlier years are what Classes 9 and 10 assume students already have. Where those foundations are shaky, sessions address them directly before moving into the board syllabus.
Classes 9 and 10
The ICSE Biology syllabus at Classes 9 and 10 is broad and the board examines it with a level of detail that requires more than general familiarity with the content. Sessions cover:
- Basic Biology: cell theory, cell structure, cell division including mitosis and meiosis
- Plant Physiology: photosynthesis, transpiration, respiration in plants and plant responses
- Human Anatomy and Physiology: nutrition, circulatory system, excretory system, nervous system, endocrine system and reproduction
- Genetics: Mendel's laws, heredity and variation
- Population: growth, control and related concerns
- Pollution: types, causes, effects on environment and human health
